How should I create a map if my front yard and backyard are not connected?
If the front and back yards are not connected but there is a path for the robot to drive through:
- Create the outline of the front yard.
- In the app, select "Add Area" and remotely control the robot to the back yard to create its outline.
- Choose "Set Path" to remotely control the robot to create a path connecting the front and back yards.
- Generate the complete map.
If there is a physical barrier between the front and back yards, preventing the robot from passing through autonomously:
- Complete the map creation for the front yard.
- Either move the base station to the back yard or purchase a separate MOVA base station.
- In the app's map editing interface, select "Add Map" to create a second map, using the same mapping process as the initial one.
Please note that the robot supports saving a maximum of two maps. When switching maps, you must first move the base station back to the corresponding map location.
What is the difference between dual map management and multi-area management?
Map:
The entire working area formed by the remote-controlled mowing robot walking around the lawn boundary and closing the loop is called a map.
Area:
1) When creating a map, an area can be added in the map through the "Add Area" feature in the app, which connects to the working area via a pathway.
2) After creating the map, the map can be divided into multiple working areas using the map editing feature in the app.
Note: If you have multiple lawns and meet the following conditions, you can create multiple areas directly within a single map without using dual maps:
a) The lawns are interconnected and pathways can be established for the robot to pass through.
b) The total area of the multiple lawns is less than the maximum area of a single map for the robot.
In which scenarios should I use dual maps?
- The front and back yard lawns are not connected, and the robot cannot move from the front yard to the back yard on its own.
- There are two areas of lawn with significant elevation differences, and the robot cannot move from Lawn 1 to Lawn 2 on its own.
- You have two houses but only one mowing robot, and each house corresponds to one map.
- Due to the robot's maximum area limitation for mapping, you may consider using dual maps in the following situations:
- If the maximum area for a single map of the purchased robot is 600 m², but you actually have 1200 m² of lawn, you can create two maps to cover the 1200 m² of lawn.
Can dual maps switch automatically?
Currently, dual maps do not support automatic switching. When using them, you need to move the robot into the corresponding map and switch to the current map in the app. Otherwise, the robot will fail to locate.
Can I use the robot in my open garden, which does not have a clear separation from my neighbor's garden?
For lawns without a clear boundary between grass and non-grass areas, you can use the remote-controlled mapping mode to outline the map's perimeter. The robot will only operate within the mapped perimeter.
Can I place the charging station outside the grass area for mapping?
You can install the charging station at any suitable location for placement. If the charging station is not within the work area of your map, you can click on "Set Path" during mapping to remotely control the MOVA 600/1000 to move from within the map to the front of the charging station, which will generate a path to connect the work area and the charging station. MOVA 600/1000 will not activate the cutting blade while traveling through the path area to avoid damaging the road surface.
My garden has undergone some changes, do I need to create a new map?
You can directly edit the existing map in the "Map Editing" of the APP. "Map Editing" supports adding or deleting no-go zone, setting connection path, adding or deleting zones (zones with any overlap will automatically merge into one zone), splitting zones and setting shapes. If the changes in your garden environment are too significant, it is recommended that you create a new map to avoid potential issues with positioning.
Can I remotely control the robot for mapping?
The robot connects to the App only via Bluetooth. When your phone is more than 10 meters away from the robot, the Bluetooth connection will automatically disconnect. For safety reasons, we recommend that you follow the robot for mapping.
